Last month, they took explorers to the depths of the game’s vast oceans with “The Abyss,” a revamp to the established underwater systems. Now, they are turning their eyes back to land as they work to make the worlds of No Man’s Sky “more alien, vibrant, and exciting to explore.”
This goal has materialized as “Visions,” yet another free update to No Man’s Sky that is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
As per the press release:
An exciting prospect indeed, and it begins with the introduction of new planetary biomes rendered in a “reimagined colour palette.” New shades of grass look to make planets feel more dynamic, and improvements to the game’s atmospherics allow for more striking skies, including rainbows.
Additionally, these revitalized worlds are populated by new hazardous flora, such as carnivorous trap plants, and strange creatures. Do not be surprised to find yourself chasing down what appeared to be an inert vein of minerals in this new update.
Along with the planetary revamp itself, “Visions” offers more reasons to explore. Players can now discover mysterious artifacts, alien skeletons, fallen satellites, and valuable treasures as they traverse No Man’s Sky’s galaxy, and each of these items comes with its own distinct use and purpose.
And for those that are looking to collaborate, a new Community Research mission lets players work together as they explore “Visions,” rewarding them with the new Eye of Korvak helmet, emotes, building parts, and fireworks.
In a time where it seems increasingly common for games to ship before they are truly finished, it is wonderful to see a developer work so diligently to address issues and deliver on fan expectations. Despite a rocky launch, Hello Games’ frequent updates and continual communication has really turned things around for No Man’s Sky. Hopefully, a certain major developer is taking notes as they work to fix their newest AAA release.
More details on “Visions,” and full patch notes for the release, are available on the No Man’s Sky website.
