But fly fishing also provides some really great early game experience from levels 27 – 58, where experience can range from 35k to 45k per hour! This makes fly fishing the fastest method of getting level 99 fishing in OSRS, as well as one of the faster P2P fishing methods. So where are the best places to set up your rod and catch some trout or salmon? Let’s take a look.
5. Lumbridge
Starting off our list is Lumbridge. You’ll find this little spot as you leave the castle by the area infested with goblins. There’s a river right there where you can catch some trout and salmon. This spot is great for entry level players, as you can easily cook the fish by lighting a fire or using the Lumbridge cooking range. The range in Lumbridge also decreases the chance of burning your fish, so this spot is extra sweet. But overall, it’s just a solid way for new players to train multiple skills close to one location. You could even use the fish for cooking and fishing experience, and then eat the fish during combat. Where to Find: Just between Lumbridge and the gate to Al Kharid, you will see a small river you can fish in.
4. Isafdar
This location can only be reached after completing Regicide, as it’s in the elven lands. There’s no nearby bank though, meaning you cannot bank what you fish here very easily. I would recommend this spot only to ultimate ironmen, or ironmen who are low level and need food to traverse the area – as there are many traps which can badly injure you. This is also a decent location for lower levels to also fish when doing elf slayer tasks at the Elf Camp, since there’s an eternal fire you can cook your fish on. Where to Find: Just south of the elf camp near the bridge leading to Prifddinas.
3. Tree Gnome Stronghold
Here’s another decent spot, this one located right next to Brimstal’s Cave. This used to be a very popular area for fly fishing, although some other spots have overtaken it. But it’s still worth a mention! A bank is fairly close by, meaning lower levels can bank their fish to cook or sell later. I would recommend this to low level players who are new to the area and not ready to leave, since it can be difficult to get here without teleports unlocked. The Gnome Stronghold offers a variety of training options too, such as combat, agility, farming, and fishing. So you’ll even be able to do other things between fishing trips. Where to Find: Near the Terrorbird cage and Brimstal’s Cave in the south-western corner of the Stronghold.
2. Barbarian Village
This spot is the best F2P spot for fly fishing, and easily the most popular. It’s along the River Lum just beneath Barbarian Village, and is the closest spot to a bank (Edgeville bank). This is also popular because there’s an eternal fire place right next to the fishing spot. This leads to many players who are power fishing, where they’ll fish, cook, and then drop their fish to start over. Many players who are strictly F2P will even use this spot to go from level 20 to 99 fishing! When you’re starting off here, expect experience of around 20k per hour. This will increase to about 50k per hour once you’re a higher fishing level. Where to Find: Just south of Barbarian Village, along the River Lum which is near the bridge connecting Barbarian Village.
1. Shilo Village
The number one best spot to fly fish is without a doubt in Shilo Village. Using tick manipulation, players can get 55k – 65k experience an hour right here. Which is very high for fishing, and it’s only beaten by Barbarian fishing! If you do not wish to tick manipulate, then expect between 35k – 50k experience per hour, dependant on your fishing level. It’s generally not advised to use a bank for this. But if you must, then Shilo Village is the closest fly fishing spot to a bank, making it a great option for that as well! The only account build where banking these fish makes sense, should be low leveled ironmen who need the fish for training/cooking experience. Otherwise it’s better to get the XP and keep going. Members can also use Stripy Feathers for rainbow fish here, and these offer more experience, but are slower to catch overall – and are therefore not recommended for grinding. To gain access to Shilo Village you must first complete the quest “Shilo Village”, which is fairly long and challenging for lower leveled accounts. Where to Find: Just north of the bank and furnace, in the river that runs through the town.
